Ms. Murphy's Kindergarten/First Grade

NEWSFLASH

Welcome! I am delighted to be your child's teacher this year and I look forward to meeting my new students and their families at the Meet and Greet on Monday, August 12 from 3:00-3:30. As you know, this is a "combination class" comprised of Kindergarteners and First Graders. I am very excited to teach this class and look forward to sharing with you how a combination class works, as well as all of the benefits that come along with it. I will explain all of this in detail at our Back to School Night. Please see below for important beginning of the school year information for your Kindergartener or First Grader. Also, please make sure you note our Back-to-School Night has a special time.

The children and I will spend the next several weeks getting to know each other, as well as learning all of the Kindergarten and/or First Grade procedures. In addition, we will be establishing classroom routines.

Kindergarten and First Grade is such a fun and magical age and I know it's going to be a fantastic year for the children!

Fondly,

Michelle Murphy

Kindergarten

  • Tuesday, August 13th is the first day of school and the children attend school from 8:35-10:05. Please look for a chair next to the Library wall with my name on it. This will be the spot where the children line up every morning.
  • Wednesday, August 14th the children will attend school from 8:35-12:05.
  • Starting August 15th, every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the children attend school 8:35-12:35. Every Wednesday, Kindergarten attends school 8:35-12:05.
  • With exception to the first day of school, Kindergarten will have snack every day. Please make sure to send a healthy, nut-free snack for your child.
  • For the first two days of school, either myself or my classroom paraprofessional will bring the children outside the front gate at dismissal. Starting on Thursday, August 15th, each of my Kindergarten students will be assigned to a Kindergarten teacher for the last 30 minutes of the school day for choosing time. This teacher will dismiss your child with her class outside the front gate. On Wednesday, I will send home a letter explaining this in detail, as well as your child's assigned Kindergarten dismissal teacher. Please look for this note in your child's blue Everyday Folder on Wednesday.
  • Back to School Night for my Kindergarten parents will be on Tuesday, August 20th from 5:00-5:45 in our classroom.

First Grade

  • Tuesday, August 13th is the first day of school and the children attend school from 8:35-12:25. Please look for a chair next to the Library wall with my name on it. This will be the spot where the children line up every morning. First graders will be dismissed outside of the front gate.
  • Since we will not eat lunch on the first day of school, please send a healthy and hearty nut-free snack for your child. This will help your little one make it until the 12:25 dismissal. On all other days, your child may have a snack during morning recess. Please make sure the snack is nut-free and is an easy "grab and go" snack for your child to open and eat at recess.
  • We will have P.E. on Mondays and Fridays. Please make sure your child wears comfortable clothing and shoes on these days.
  • August 14th-24th all first graders will attend school from 8:35-1:15
  • Back to School Night for my 1st grade families will be on Tuesday, August 20th from 5:30-6:15 in our classroom (if you have an older child's BTSN starting at 6:00, feel free to leave early).
  • Starting August 26th, my first graders will all be on the Late Bird schedule (9:25-3:00).
